Lash enhancement
A lash enhancement is a technique designed to provide natural, subtle definition to the base of the eyelashes. It enhances the lash line, creating the illusion of fuller, thicker, and darker lashes. This is suited for those who want to wake up looking refreshed and polished without the appearance of wearing makeup.
Classic Eyeliner
A classic eyeliner builds on the lash enhancement technique, creating a slightly thicker eyeliner look that can be finished with a subtle taper. This style adds definition and depth, giving the appearance of wearing eyeliner without being too thick or bold.
Shadow Liner
‘Shadow’ liner is a technique that creates a shaded finish rather than a crisp, defined eyeliner. The process involves implanting tiny, pixellated dots of diluted pigment across the lid, which once healed will diffuse into a soft, smudgy effect. This style is perfect for those who want visible eyeliner with a softer, more subtle finish, and it’s especially great for hooded eyes. Density and colour can be built up to the desired finish.
Winged eyeliner
For those who want a little more! Winged eyeliner offers a beautiful, clean, and crisp look. This technique flows and extends into a flick or ‘wing’ outward from the upper lash line, following the natural curvature of your eye. Winged eyeliner creates stunning elongation and delivers a sharp, flawless finish.
*Winged eyeliner is anatomy dependant, as sometimes we cannot create a wing due to positioning of the eyelid crease and may need to opt for a classic liner instead.
Lower liner
Lower liner can range from gentle shading throughout the lash line, or a built up more ‘solid’ eyeliner look, coming either part way or across the whole length of the lash line.
FAQ’s
For eyeliner appointments, anywhere from 1.5-2.5 hours will be booked out, depending on the style you’ve chosen. This includes a consultation process, mapping/predraw, the treatment and aftercare. A lash enhancement is a lot quicker than a shadow liner for example, however eyeliner is never a treatment that should be rushed, and the healed results are a testament to the time it takes being wholly worth it. 4-6 weeks later around 1 hour will be booked for the top up.
It is important to remember that though permanent cosmetics is low maintenance, it is not no maintenance. The first treatment is conducted and then a touch up will be performed 4-6 weeks later to reinforce any pigment that may have not retained during the healing process, this is an entirely normal part of the healing process and varies from person to person. Top ups can be done to refresh the colour but typically with eyeliners this can be anywhere from 12-18 months for the lash enhancements, all the way up to every few years to boost the pigment on larger-scale eyeliners. The reason eyeliners last for a longer amount of time is due to the carbon content in eyeliner pigments, black is very concentrated and will take the body a longer amount of time to break down, which is something to consider when choosing a bolder eyeliner style.
- Avoid lash growth serums for as long as possible prior to your appointment. This is because lash growth serums can sensitise the skin where we’re tattooing and could potentially affect pigment retention.
- Remove all lash extensions at least 2 weeks prior. This will give the chance for the skin to settle down and any sensitivity to ease.
- Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen or coumadin for two days before and two days after the treatment. If these are prescription, please do not discontinue before consulting your doctor.
- Avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to the treatment.
- Refrain from using sunbeds and avoid natural sun exposure for 2 weeks before.
- Avoid tinting or perming (such as LVLs) for one week prior.
- Avoid contact lenses immediately after treatment if you’re having an eye treatment, bring your glasses.
Surface healing time is usually around 5-10 days however this is dependent on the individual. If your immune system is compromised in any way (such as feeling under the weather) then healing may take slightly longer, aftercare advice includes:
- Clean over the treatment area with cool boiled water on a cotton disc morning and night. I recommend a ‘press and roll’ technique rather than swiping as this will help to clean the area without being disruptive.
- Swelling is completely normal around the eye area and can last up to 5 days but usually subsides within 48-72 hours. A cool compress can be used to help relieve this.
- The treatment area must be kept completely dry in between cleaning. If the area gets wet, pat dry- do not rub.
- From day 2-3, apply a thin layer of healing ointment which will be provided to you in your aftercare bag as often as required. The eye area doesn’t need a lot of cream, only if it feels dry/itchy and only a rice grain amount would be used for both eyes.
- Do not expose the treatment area to extreme heat, cold, or moisture for 2 weeks following the treatment. This includes the sun, tanning beds, Jacuzzis, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, hot water, skin creams or ointments other than those provided.
- Do not pick, peel, or scratch the area, this may result in the colour healing unevenly and you could also risk scarring and infection.
- Avoid all hair removal and tinting treatments for two weeks after the procedure.
- Do not apply make-up until 72 hours after the treatment. If you have had an eye treatment, use a new mascara.
- Do not take in any strenuous activity which could result in perspiration, this is because the treatment area can get irritated and the pigment retention may be affected.
Eyeliner shouldn’t be a painful treatment – although we can’t guarantee absolutely no discomfort during the treatment, the pigment is not applied deep into the skin and it’s extremely rare for us to encounter any bleeding at all. Your eyes will be closed throughout the treatment.
Permanent makeup is a procedure where pigment is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin using a needle cartridge and specialist device designed for even and safe pigment implantation with minimal trauma to the skin tissues. It is like a tattoo- but a much gentler version. Once deposited, the pigments I have chosen to work with have been formulated to fade over time to a lighter version of the original healed colour and retain beautifully.
